You must have ion district administrator privileges to perform this task.
Custom fields are an option to to add data to a student's profile. Examples include "Summer School - 2022" or "Virtual Learning"
1. Access Custom Fields setup in Admin>Data>Custom Fields
2. Choose to Add a Field
3. Model - This choice determines where the item will populate in the Available Columns of the Data Wall Builder - Choose either Demographics or Custom.
4. Category - Create a Name that will populate under "Demographics" or "Custom" on the Data Wall Builder.
5. Name - Type in the Name for the Custom Field - this will be searchable in filters and columns on the Data Wall Builder. It will also populate on the Student Profile.
6. Type - Choose the Type from the Dropdown Menu
7. Options - If either Dropdown or Dropdown - Multiple was selected for Type, enter the choices (one per line) in this box.
8. Save the Custom Field
There are two ways to add Custom Field data depending on how many student records will be affected.
1. Manage Students - use this option to add a few custom fields
2. Data Import - use this option to add many custom fields
Manage Students
When there are only a few custom fields to enter, this option is useful.
1. Go to Admin>SIS>Students
2. Verify the school you are in.
3. Choose the student - the student information will populate on the left hand side.
4. Click on Custom Tab.
5. Use the drop down arrows to select.
6. Save. The custom field will populate in the student record.
Data Upload
This option is preferred for loading many custom field records.
Create a spreadsheet, using these headers.
Once the data is loaded into ion, you can add the custom field columns to data walls, or view them in the student profile.
