Data Walls in ion look a lot like a spreadsheet. They also function like a spreadsheet. Data Wall users can sort, filter, and drill into data.
To sort any column in a data wall, click the header row of the column you wish to sort. Values will sort automatically from highest to lowest. Click again to sort lowest to highest.
You can sort by multiple columns by holding down the "Alt" key.
Quick Filter
1. Directly below the header row is the Quick Filter bar.
If the header row does not display, hover your mouse over the thin gray stripe below the header row.
2. To filter a column, begin typing your filter conditions in the quick filter text box. The data wall will automatically update.
3. To filter on multiple columns, type filter values in those columns.
Filtering will reduce the number of students viewed on the data wall. To return to original number of students, delete filter values.
Operators
In addition to simply typing a value, you can use operators to filter data walls.
Greater Than (>)
Less Than (<)
Greater Than or Equal To (>=)
Less Than or Equal To (<=)
Not Equal To (!=)
Each cell that contains assessment data is clickable. To view the details of a given assessment, click the score, and a window will appear displaying additional details. Click close to return to the data wall.
This feature allows the user to take notes for a number of students when viewing a data wall without leaving the data wall.
1. Click on the data wall icon to access a student profile pop up.
2. Click on the notes tab to take notes.
3. Click to close to return to the data wall.
4. Once the note is saved, ion will date/time stamp it and add the user name.
Notes will remain part of the student file throughout their time in the district. If a student leaves the district for a period of time and then returns, the student notes are accessible as long as the same student id number is used.
Click on a student's hyperlinked name to leave the data wall and enter the student profile. All the student's information is stored here.
Only those who have access to the student and that information are allowed to access it. See Permission Descriptions for more information.
