Data Wall Assessment Entry

Updated on

Data Wall Assessment entry allows staff to enter student scores directly into ion.

To prepare a data wall for manual score entry, see Data Wall Score Entry (User Entry)

To enter assessment scores, locate the Data Wall that the district has created for Data Wall Entry

ion recommends that districts use a Data Wall Entry Folder and label the Data Walls ...Data Wall Entry so that staff can easily find them.

Testing Windows

The testing windows can be edited to make testing windows accessible or inaccessible for score entry.

Visibility

1. Toggle the "eye" icon to make a window visible or not visible.  If a window is not visible on the data wall, staff will be unable to see the window in the Data Wall Editor, but they can still enter scores.

2. Toggle the "lock" icon to lock the window.  The window will still be visible in the data wall editor, but staff will be unable to enter scores.

Score Entry Errors

When staff enter scores incorrectly while the Testing Window is open, they are able to edit the score.  If the window is closed, then they must contact the ion systems administrator to open that window in order to edit the score.

Advanced Entry

If the data wall entry has been set up for Advanced Entry...

1.  Click on the "+" icon to enter a new score OR click on the "pencil" icon to edit a score

2. A dialogue box will populate - enter the date of the assessment

Verify the date of the assessment.  The default is today's date.

3. Enter the score. IF the assessment includes errors and accuracy, enter the FINAL score (less errors).

4. If the assessment includes errors and accuracy, ONLY enter errors.  ion will calculate "Total Attempted" and "Accuracy".

5.  For example, if the final score is 43, total attempted is 46 and errors are 3, then enter "43" as the score and "3" as the errors.  ion will then calculate the total attempted at 46 and the Accuracy as 93.48.

Click the data points in the Student Profile and in Data Walls that have the assessment column added to them to view Assessment Details.  There, you will find the Total Attempted and Accuracy - see pictures below.

6. Choose the best navigation as you add scores to the student file

  • Click on student or assessment and then use "Enter" to save and move forward
  • Use the arrows to navigate to the next student or assessment when there is no score for a student

7. Click "Save" when finished and the dialogue box will close

8. The scores will not appear on the data wall until you refresh the page

Simplified Entry

1. Click the "+" icon to enter a new score or the "pencil" icon to edit a score.

2. To record the score...

  • "Enter" to move to the next student
  • "Tab" to move to the next assessment
  • "Checkmark" if only one assessment needs to be entered
  • The "X" resets the field

3. To view the scores just entered, click "refresh."
