SIS Settings

Updated on

The items in SIS Settings are optional, depending on the district's usage of ion.  In this section, we will focus on

(1) School Areas

(2) Calendars

(3) Attendance Codes

(4) Language Codes

Behavior and Tags have their own separate sections.

School Areas

In this section, I can designate school areas / designations that can be used in ad hoc reporting.  I could create school areas for elementary, middle and high schools.  I could create regional school districts, feeder school patterns, etc.

To create School Areas...

1. Click on Admin>SIS>SIS Settings>School Areas

2. Click into the Area Name to type in the name.

3. Click Submit.

See Manage Schools to add the School Area to the School.

Calendars

The school calendar function can track service requirements or services held during summer school.  For example, if a student requires 60 minutes of occupational therapy every month, this calendar function can define a month when there might be a winter or spring break or other non-student days to consider.  Once non-student days are marked, ion will make an appropriate calculation to track 60 minutes accurately.

1. To access Calendars, click on Admin>Security>SIS>SIS Settings>Calendars

2. Calendars are set up district wide and can then be copied to each school to be marked differently

3. When I click on particular days, those days are marked non-school days.

4. To mark the end of a school year, click on a day and click "ESY."

Attendance Codes

Attendance codes are used during the check in process for intervention groups and can be used to track time spent in intervention.  It can also be used to track services for billing purposes.

Attendance Codes entered here are used to track attendance during intervention groups.  This attendance function is separate from the daily attendance from the SIS.

Attendance codes must be entered when using the MTSS module for the check in process to function correctly.  ion recommends at minimum, add "Absent," "Present," and "Absent - Excused."

Language Codes

Contact Customer Support if you wish to use Language Codes in your district.

This dictionary is populated using data from your student import file. Please do not modify the "Code" field. This field needs to match exactly what is being imported via the students import. Modifications will cause new records to be created.

1. Click Admin>SIS>SIS Settings>Language Codes

2. To add Language Codes to the Data Wall, Click "Demographics" from the Available Columns.
