Assign Student to Intervention in a Student Plan

Updated on

Students can be assigned to interventions in several different ways. This article will walk through assigning a student to an intervention through the student plan.

Intervention Assignment is accomplished at the skill level on the student plan. To assign an intervention to a student, navigate to the desired student plan and skill. If the skill has not yet been created, be sure to create the skill.

To assign an intervention to a student, click the green (+) icon at the top of the Intervention panel on the desired skill tab. A dialog will appear with three different options.

1. Join Existing Group

When a student needs to be added to an already existing intervention group for the given skill, utilize the Join Existing Group option.

Choose the existing group from the drop down.

The intervention program and student start date will auto-fill with the proper program, and the default start date of the group. You can edit the start date to reflect the actual start date of the student.

Click "Submit".

2. Create New Group

When a student needs to be added to a group that doesn't have an associated record in ion, use the "Create New Group" option.

Required Fields:

  • Choose Intervention Program. Choose the name of the program from the drop down. If your intervention program is not listed, a system admin can add it using the Intervention Dictionary.
  • Group Start Date. Choose the start date of the intervention group.
  • Group Name. Give the group a meaningful name. This group name is internal - but it should have enough information to allow staff to distinguish between different groups.
  • Weeks. Choose the number of weeks the intervention will run.
  • Minutes. Choose the number of minutes the intervention will meet each day.
  • Schedule. Tick the check boxes of the anticipated days the group will meet.
  • PM Frequency. Note the frequency in which progress monitoring will take place.
  • Tier. Indicate the instructional tier.
  • Interventionist / Provider. Indicate the person who will be administering this group.

Click Submit to finish.

When a student requires a 1:1 intervention (such as in the case of counseling, etc) - staff can assign a 1:1 intervention, which omits group reporting and functionality.

  • Weeks. Choose the number of weeks the intervention will run.
  • Minutes. Choose the number of minutes the intervention will meet each day.
  • Schedule. Tick the check boxes of the anticipated days the intervention will meet.
  • PM Frequency. Note the frequency in which progress monitoring will take place.
  • Tier. Indicate the instructional tier.
